I have come across the best free vector program.  the best Vector programs free of charge are a great set of graphic tools.  Some people that do graphic artwork think that Corel Draw is the best graphic program on the market. With a price tag of $349.00 or Adobe Illustrator with a price tag of $599.00 I would say that it would almost have to be to shell out that kind of money. Vector programs allow you to draw images and artwork and re-size them without the loss of quality you might see if you increase the size of a regular jpeg photo. With free vector programs you can take a picture and and turn it into a trace of itself. This is good for when you need to create logos and other artwork where you need to have total control over stretching, skewing, and distortion of the graphics without the loss of the original quality. Many company logos you see with pictures of fruit and other objects that are not a picture are actually vector drawings.

They take a jpeg image upload it into a vector program and then they use the pen tool to trace all the way around the object until they have the outline shape of the object. And then they seperate each shadow based on color and trace each seperate piece of the object until they have a 3-d copy of that object that can almost exactly mirror in comparison to the original photo. Graphic artist swear by these vector programs but there is a company who has created a vector program that levels the playing field and most of all its free.

Inkscape is an open source vector program that performs the same function of Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator. It is an online program that you can download. The catch with this editing sofware is that it is the best free vector program! The program can be downloaded for free at www.inkscape.org. Inkscape features many of the functions of its higher priced competitors and allows you to export and save the file in a number of formats. Inkscape also has an auto trace feature that will trace the image for you all you have to do is adjust the settings to achieve the desired results. I would recommend this program for those who are looking to learn how to use vector programing but as with almost all free programs there is a limit to what they can do. That is why the competitors put a premium on their products and I would suggest for the advance vector users or those that have hit a road block with Inkscape that you look into buying Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator. Those seeking to get a program degree will more than likely use one of the premium vector programs during their programming degree course work.
