Sellers are rated on a 5 star satisfaction criteria where the customer rates the shipping part of the transaction based on how they felt the shipping process went with a grade of 1-5 stars. This is then used as 20% of your overall DSR(detailed seller rating) which is the criteria Ebay uses to measure your performance and to reward good performers or reprimand sellers who are not upholding their end.

Shipping is not a complicated function it’s just time consuming and depending on the size of your operation there may be considerable physical work involved. Shipping items sold on Ebay require the proper shipping supplies. It’s a good idea to have corrugated boxes or cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, a shipping scale, tape and a few other packing items. When you have mad a sell and received a payment on Ebay the next step is ship the item to the customer. It’s always a good idea to ship the items as soon as possible to avoid issue that may come up with time constraints. Bubble wrap can be placed around fragile items to protect them from breaking. You can also use cardboard to separate items in a box . Once you have the item in the box it’s time to fill the box with peanuts or bubble wrap. Remember to package the items in the box tightly so that nothing moves around and once everything is packaged up nice and neat it’s time for it to be taped closed.

Once you have your package nice and secure then it’s time to weigh the item to see what the postage will calculate up to. Paypal allows you the option of paying or and shipping your items right from your Paypal account. With the weight of the package measured then enter that information in the weight fields after you chose from between USPS or UPS to ship your package. Enter the weight for the package in the appropriate place and chose what speed at which you would like for the package to ship. Once you have paid for postage then it’s time to affix the postage to the box either by using shipping labels or scotch tape. When the item is packaged and shipping labels have been applied then it’s time to ship the item. A lot of times people who ship by USPS will hand the package to the mailman when he comes to the deliver the mail. He will then scan it and take it back to the facility for processing. Once the item is delivered to the customer then the transaction is complete. It’s a good idea to email the customer with tracking information if you have it and a thank message for their business. This helps when time comes for them to rate the shipping experience. As the seller you should always leave feedback first.
