How To Cut Your Hair With Clippers

By

Cutting Hair With Hair Clippers

How often do you find yourself going to the barber shop to get your hair cut?  Once a week maybe?  Twice a week?  And how much does it cost you every time you go?  Some barbers charge you a price from a few dollars to a hundred dollars depending on who their clientele is.  A lot of celebrity barbers command a very high price for their time and talents.  The average barber will cut hair about 10 times per day.  Each haircut taking from about 30 minutes to an hour just to complete on hair cut.  And there are a lot of good barbershops where clients will come when the doors open and are willing to wait 4-6 hours just to get their haircut by their favorite barber.   For men a haircut is as serious as a woman getting a new hair-do.  You will only trust certain barbers with you hair because one mistake will lead you to wearing a ball cap for the next two weeks until the hair grows back.  The business of haircuts is a very serious and well respected one.  A barber is almost like a bartender in the fact that you will tell your barber your whole life story the same way people do with a bartender.

The Cost Factor

When money starts to become an issue in life people start to look for ways to cut back on things that they can possibly do without.  One of those expenses is the hairdresser.  A trip every week to get a haircut will cost you about $15 and about $60 per month.  This can lead a person to try to find other ways of getting a haircut.  Some people know friends and relatives that have experience as barbers or year of cutting hair as a side business.  They will often contact these people to take care of their hair needs at a greatly discounted price or for free.  Many times you will be able to find someone you know that can perform the task for you for a reasonable price or arrangement of some other sort.  For those that may not have anyone they know that can cut their hair for them then this poses a dilemma.  Should you go without a haircut for a few weeks or should you just spend money you don't have and continue to go to your barbershop shelling out $15 per week.  Depending on how serious you are about getting your hair cut you may go against your better judgment and spend the money on a barber.  Especially if there is a special event coming up that you are wanting or needing to go to.

The Do It Yourself Method

Even though you may have the desire to go to a barbershop every week to get a hair cut there is another option available to you.  You can always buy a pair of hair clippers for the price of the average haircut and cut you hair yourself.  The process despite the negative potential outcome is quite easy.  Clipper sets come with instruction on how to use the clippers and with a little common sense you can achieve a result comparable to what you barber will do.  The best type of clippers for the job would be clippers that are adjustable with a height adjustment lever on the side.  The high adjustment allows the clippers to cut you hair at various lengths.  There are comb accessories that come with the clippers as well that function the same way as the height adjustment lever.  The difference is that the comb attachments or (guards) are removable and each of them allows the hair to be cut to varying lengths.  There are usually combs that range from 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, left tapered, and right tapered.  The comb teeth on the left tapered and right tapered guards are angled to allow you to cut the hair behind your left and your right ear.  When used together with the adjustment lever on the clippers you can almost assure that you will get acceptable results from attempting to cut your hair yourself.

Diffent Hair Cuts

Bald

If you want to cut you hair bald then you will need to remove any comb that is attached to the clippers.  Then you will need to lower the lever so that the blade will cut as close as possible.  Now you will be able to cut all of you hair off until it is completely gone.

Low Haircut

If you want to achieve a low haircut then you will need to use the 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch comb guard attached to the clippers.  You can adjust the clipper blade height while this attachment is on the clippers to get the desired length of your low haircut.  This will allow you to get as low as you possibly can without cutting your hair bald in some places.

Medium Haircut

To cut a medium haircut you will need to attatch the 3/4 inch or 7/8 inch comb to the clippers.  This will give you a haircut of around 1 inch in length.  As with the low haircut you can adjust the lever to achieve the desired results.

High Top Haircut

For this type of cut you will need to use a combination of combs during the haircut process.  To cut he high-top you will need to use the 3/4 inch or 7/8 inch comb on the top of the hair and for the sides and the back you will need to use the 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch comb attached.

Hair Cuts

There are many different styles of haircuts out there.  There are the kinds that you desire and the kinds that others may desire.  Learning to cut your own hair is more than just a means to solving a problem.  Learning to cut hair give you a valuable trade that can actually earn you extra money when you perfect the process.  The more you cut your hair the more comfortable you become with the task of cutting hair.  This comfort will reflect well in the hair cuts that you give yourself and when others notice this they may ask you to cut their hair as well.  I know of a few friends that do this and have been very successful doing this as a side business where they make about $100 a week cutting various neighbors hair.  So if you decide to cut your own hair you may not only be able to save a little money you may just make some extra money too.
